Lodestar Space Power

Preferred equity in surface power units for places where solar does not work and batteries freeze.

A lunar night lasts fourteen Earth days and reaches −173 °C. Solar panels produce nothing and batteries do not survive it, which leaves radioisotope and small fission units as the only options for anything that must keep operating. Lodestar has two flown heritage systems and holds study contracts with two civil space agencies.

No payment processor is connected. The commitment flow runs end to end, through amount, agreement, signature and receipt, and records a simulated position rather than a charge.

6

Technology readiness level, 1 to 9

Confidence band 5.56.6

A qualification unit has completed thermal vacuum and vibration testing, which is prototype demonstration in a relevant environment and therefore level 6. Two prior systems from this team have flown, which narrows the band. The commercial constraint is entirely fuel: plutonium-238 is produced by a single national program in quantities measured in kilograms per year and cannot be purchased.

At TRL 6, the ladder permits Preferred equity and releases up to 50% of committed capital. This offering is structured as a preferred equity, which is consistent with that band.
