Sable Fast Reactor, Series B

Preferred equity in a sodium fast reactor with integrated salt storage, siting where a coal plant already has the transmission.

A fast spectrum needs no moderator, and sodium at atmospheric pressure removes the high-pressure containment problem. Bolting a molten salt heat store onto the secondary side turns a baseload machine into one that can follow load and sell into peak pricing. Siting at a retiring coal plant inherits the switchyard, the transmission rights and the workforce.

Technology readiness level, 1 to 9

Confidence band 5.36.4

A prototype sodium loop with representative components has operated at temperature under third-party witness, which is what level 6 describes. Sodium fast reactors have operating precedent going back decades, so the physics is not the question; the fuel supply and the license are. On the commercial side there is a letter of intent rather than a contract, and a HALEU supply chain that is itself under construction.

At TRL 6, the ladder permits Preferred equity and releases up to 50% of committed capital. This offering is structured as a preferred equity, which is consistent with that band.
